Herring, a Defensive End for the Kansas City Chiefs, was present for the celebration. Among others in attendance were Monroe County Commission Chairman Greg Tapley and District 1 Commissioner Lamarcus Davis.

Nicknaming the local celebration as “Malik Herring Day”, there was a brief parade around the Monroe County Courthouse square, a pep rally at Ingram Field, and multiple local business owners and important local figures were given the opportunity to speak at the event.

Among many other gifts, the Chiefs’ player was presented with a red road sign that read: “Welcome to Monroe County: Home of Malik Herring 2 Time Super Bowl Champion KC 2023, 2024.”

Herring had reportedly spent his Saturday morning assisting with cleaning up downtown Forsyth for next month’s Forsythia Festival, and also stayed around for autographs and photos after the pep rally.
